Allure 260 £80

The Didak Allure 260 is the bigger brother to the high wind Allure 170. It is a full 2.6m in span, with the same high aspect ratio and wide set standoffs as the 170. The kite is billed as an all rounder, although with a freestyle bent. The 3-point bridle gives it good tracking and cornering abilities and significant pull. 150lb lines are a minimum in anything but the lightest winds where on 80lb lines the allure 260 copes admirably despite the standard ripstop nylon construction.

The panels are rolled seamed in a curved panel layout, which has an almost oriental feel about it - this betrays the kite's origins, as it was manufactured in china. Quality is good, however, but like many Chinese kites the allure lacks the finishing touches that you pay the extra £40 for in a UK kite

Axles are flat and slow with this, kite, and half axles can be linked gracefully into cascades. The kite is stable on its back, and like the 170 loves to fade. Wing tip take offs, tip drags and other old school freestyle is there for the asking, although the kite won't deadlaunch like its cousin.

In conclusion Didak have come up with a design that is well made and priced, is easy for the beginner to pick up and fly, and has enough there to amuse an expert on a lazy summer afternoon.
