Introduction to Fury^
We have just received a press release from Carl Robertshaw Kite Related Design about his new kite, Fury.
Designed by Carl, the Fury is aimed at being the definitive sports kite, and comes in three different versions:
- Entry Version made by Flexifoil
- Competition Version made by Carl
- Aerostuff Version made by Carl
The final version is made in the Japanese Aerostuff spars and is going to be quite exclusive.
According to Carl, the Fury offers better precision than other trick kites as well as better trick capability than other precision kites. The versions made by Carl are fully adjustable to suit individual flying style.
The Fury is apparently stable with no over steer, and excels at old school precision maneuvers with solid tracking. It also performs more radical moves too:
"Some of the more radical tricks are started by rolling the FURY on its back, either nose towards or away. Axles, Fades, Comets, Flick flacks, and Lazy Suzan’s are some of the common advanced tricks executed effortlessly. The FURY goes further - it YoYo’s like a much smaller kite. This uncovers a new exciting realm of trick flying that is begging to be discovered."
The sail is deep, 14 panel with a single stand off. This offers accurate and responsive behavior, coupled with its resistance to turbulence, making it an ideal competition kite

The Flexifoil version
has a fixed trailing edge leach-line for silent flight:
The frame is 6mm and 8mm Carbon tube for strength and weight balance. The Bridle is standard 3 point.

Carl's models
are designed for competition with colour schemes to disguise the outline and
details of the frame. They have special cut outs in the Leading edge Dacron
to prevent line snags on the fittings for tricks and team flying.
The bridle tow point and top legs are fully adjustable to change the speed, pull and turn rate. The trailing edge is also adjustable which affects all the flight characteristics of the FURY:
"With the leach line slack, the Fury is noisy, which reduces the speed and pull while smoothing out the gusts, making this setting ideal for team flying and beginners. With the leach line taught, the FURY becomes a silent, fast kite that pulls hard – ideal for individual flying and lighter wind."
The weigh balance of the frame is also adjustable and the p400 spars are fully reinforced. Ideal for freestyle and competition alike.
The Aerostuff Fury is the ultimate desirable combination. Aerostuff is made in Japan and is considered the best and most expensive spar system in the world.
Both spar combinations can house 6mm internal rods to adjust the balance point, strength, and sail to weight ratio.
