Introduction

A few years back when kHiTe did its first videos such things were rare in the world of the internet. What was there was normally a fairly stationary camera and some flying.

Gorilla Times have changed and people with better equipment, bigger budgets and more time are now producing videos on the net at broadcast quality. So where can a bunch of clips taken with solid state digi-cams fit into that?

Well take a look. kHiTe's videos are not about professionalism, great flying, or high quality big downloads. They are about having fun with kites: recreational freestyle. We love those natty Showcase Videos with the hours of footage spliced down to 10 minutes of fantastic flying, but as far as we are concerned it's not a kHiTe video shoot 'till someone falls over.

Expect to see more weird video stuff from kHiTe in the future.

Technical Stuff

Most recent videos are encoded in a range of formats. Firstly we use Windows Media Video 8, which is available for Apple Mac and Windows. We also encode a lower quality version in Flash, which will work on a range of platforms and often behind work Firewall's. We also encode some videos in MPEG 1 format for PAL VCD at 25fps. These files are much larger and not necessarily better quality than the Windows Media Video files however they can be easily written to Video CD and will work on just about all platforms. These can be found in the Club section for which you will have to register.

Older videos are encoded in the Flash format. Some of these are 'interactive' - move your mouse over the numbers to view each clip, other videos have controls to pause, play or go back to the start. All older Flash videos have a direct link underneath so you can save them to your hard disk or view them in the full browser window.
